Regenera Activa

Using the scalps natural regeneration mechanisms, Regenera Activa treatment can stimulate hair growth and thicken existing hair. Amazing innovations in regenerative medicine have led to this one-appointment stem cell treatment, delivered by leading hair surgeon, Dr Munir Somji.

Regenera Activa (or ‘Regenera’) is a method of hair stimulation

Looking down at your shower drain and seeing large clumps of hair is a sobering experience, as is finding an unusual amount in your hair brush. Male and female pattern baldness or conditions such as alopecia can affect many people at any time of their lives. We can lose our hair through stress, illness or genetics and no matter the cause, the experience of losing our hair can be emotionally upsetting and embarrassing.

At Dr MediSpa, our clinical director, Dr Munir Somji is one of the world’s leading hair transplant surgeons and specialises in both surgical and non-surgical methods to replace and rejuvenate thinning hair. One of the most innovative procedures we now offer here at Dr MediSpa, from our clinics in Chiltern Street, London, and Loughton in Essex is Regenera Activa.

Regenera Activa (or ‘Regenera’) is a method of hair stimulation using the body’s own stem cells, growth factors and progenitor cells to trigger tissue regeneration which can offer a remarkable effect on hair growth.

As hair loss on the scalp, face and body is a direct result of poor follicle health, Regenera focuses on repairing the damage of the follicle and physically reverse the signs of hair loss.

Traction alopecia is especially common in women who have used hair extensions for years. Hair extensions and tight, pulled hairstyles damage natural hair, even causing small bald spots, and Dr Somji recommends Regenera for those suffering with traction alopecia.

Regenera is less invasive when compared to other hair loss treatments, and results can be visible much sooner. So much so that Regenera can yield initial visible changes to the scalp in less than 8 weeks of treatment, after just one session. After which, results can continue to improve for up to 2 years.

Frequently asked questions

Am I suitable for Regenera Activa?

Regenera is suitable for both male and female heads as well as various forms of androgenic alopecia. However, before any treatment can take place, we will ask you to attend a no obligation consultation with Dr Somji, to discuss your medical history, examine the area to be treated and talk about what you can expect by means of results from this procedure.

What happens during the treatment?

  • A collection of 1 to 3 micro grafts are taken from a healthy source at the back of the scalp. This sample will be made of a number of follicles and tissue fat, where stem cells are found.
  • The samples are put in to a special device where the stem cells, growth factors and progenitor cells are extracted.
  • The extraction fluid is then injected into the areas requiring treatment in a mesotherapy technique.

Does Regenera hurt?

A local anaesthetic will be administered prior to treatment and although there can be some sensation at this stage as well as slight pricking sensations when the samples are being taken, all in all, Regenera is practically pain-free.

How long does the treatment take?

A treatment with Regenera will take between 30 minutes to 1 hour, depending on the area to be treated.

How many treatments will I need and how often?

You will need only 1 treatment with Regenera and this will probably need to be repeated every 1.5 to 2 years. Your hair restoration journey is unique and you will be under the safe hands of Dr Somji; he can best advise on your follow up schedule.
