Fractora™

As the onset of age takes its toll, the skin loses tone, elasticity and hydration. This is mainly due to the depletion of vital substances such collagen and elastin as well as lifestyle choices such as smoking and over exposure to UV light and certain health issues, which can further damage and degrade the skin. As a result, the skin can start to look tired, can sag and droop in the lower facial regions and lose its youthful vitality.

How does Fractora™ work and where can it be used?

The skin is gently heated by placing a small probe device against the surface of the skin. Radiofrequency energy is passed through a series of very small bipolar pins which as well as heating the skin, causes tiny pin-prick holes that the body naturally repairs over the following months.

This treatment can be used on facial areas that are developing fine or indeed, deeper wrinkles, scars or discoloured skin tones.

The most common areas of treatment include:

  • lower eyelids
  • upper eyelids
  • smile lines
  • cheeks
  • mouth
  • neck
  • décolleté
  • hands

Frequently asked questions

Why Fractora™ at Dr MediSpa?

At Dr. MediSpa in Loughton, Essex, we understand that the ageing process can prove emotionally upsetting for those who like to take care of their looks and we believe that in offering innovative, non-surgical treatments to slow down the hands of time, you can live your life with restored confidence as well as new-found beautiful skin.
Fractora™ uses fractional radio-frequency to provide an improvement to the skin’s tone and texture for a more radiant and youthful appearance.

What happens during the treatment?

The treatment differs depending on your individual skin concern and the aggressiveness of treatment required. A topical anaesthetic ointment or cream will be applied around 45 minutes beforehand so that you are comfortable throughout. For more aggressive treatment an injectable anaesthetic or ‘block’ may be required.

Unlike some similar treatments, Fractora™ does not require a conductive gel, instead a cold air chiller may be used as the treatment is administered so that heat to the surface of the skin is minimized, helping the treatment penetrate deeper in to the skin for a more effective result as well as more comfort for you.

Do I need to follow any aftercare?

Following treatment with Fractora™ your skin will be quite red and tender and a healing balm may be applied to assist with this redness and calm the skin. All aftercare and potential downtime will be discussed with you at your pre-treatment consultation.

What results can I expect with Fractora™?

You should see tighter, firmer and more youthful looking skin. Lines and wrinkles can be smoothed out naturally and superficial sun spots and thread veins can disappear. Some results can be seen immediately after the treatment.
However, optimum results can usually be seen from two weeks after the treatment and continue up to six months afterwards as the tissues continue to heal and produce new collagen and elastin. Results can vary depending on your own individual response, your lifestyle and how you manage your skin, day-to-day.

How do I know if I am suitable for Fractora™?

Prior to any non-surgical treatment, we will conduct a no-obligation consultation to fully assess your concerns, treatment goals and to assess your medical history. Most skin types can be successfully treated with Fractora™ and if you are fit and healthy and Dr. Somji is happy with your pre-treatment assessment, you can then return to the clinic for your first session
