Jawline dermal fillers at Dr MediSpa

Treating an under-defined or sagging jawline historically would mean invasive surgery such as liposuction or a face-lift. Fortunately, now aesthetic medicine can offer a non-surgical solution to this issue.

At Dr. MediSpa in Loughton, Essex and Harley Street, London, Dr. Munir Somji offers injectable dermal fillers as a procedure to re-structure and define the jawline, lifting the facial features and giving a youthful and attractive appearance.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are dermal fillers?

Dermal fillers are injectable substances used to sculpt, plump and volumize weak and sagging areas of the face, such as the cheeks, temples, chin, nose and of course, the jawline.

Made from a naturally occurring substance within the body called Hyaluronic Acid (HA), dermal fillers mimic and replace the natural HA that is lost over time and when contained in a viscous gel matrix, can be used as a ‘scaffold’ to support sagging and loose skin.

When injected in to the jawline, dermal fillers act to lift, sculpt and re-structure areas of weakness and have both an immediate and long-term effect on the hydration, tone and texture of the skin.

Do jawline fillers hurt?

As dermal fillers contain Lidocaine, you should not feel any pain during this treatment. However, you may experience a little tugging and pulling which is completely normal. This sensation can be a little strange, but not uncomfortable. If you are extremely sensitive, Dr. Somji may decide to inject an anaesthetic beforehand so that you are completely numb.

What happens during the treatment?

To ensure your comfort throughout your jawline filler treatment, a small amount of topical numbing cream will be applied to the area of injection.

As most HA dermal fillers now contain Lidocaine, an anaesthetic which numbs at the point of injection, you will feel very little discomfort. Dr. Somji will then use a cannula, which is a blunt needle used for larger areas and to avoid bruising, to inject the filler along the jawline and will mould this in to place to ensure a pleasing and natural result.

How do I know if I am suitable for dermal fillers for the jawline?

Before any treatment can commence, Dr. Somji will ask you to attend a no obligation consultation to assess your unique concerns, expected results and to ensure you are medically and emotionally fit and well for treatment. After this consultation, you will be invited back to the clinic for your dermal filler procedure
