A nose job or rhinoplasty is a surgical procedure which can change the shape, size and prominence of the nose. Rhinoplasty remains one of the most popular surgical treatments. With men, it is the most popular plastic surgery in the UK.
You may consider a nose job after having non-surgical rhinoplasty using dermal fillers, as a permanent solution to your concerns.

There are two main types of procedure when it comes to rhinoplasty surgery – open rhinoplasty and closed rhinoplasty.
Open rhinoplasty involves creating an incision at the base of the columella (the soft, fleshy area between the base of your nostrils). The skin is then lifted back to obtain good visibility of the inner structure of the nose. Your surgeon can then reshape the cartilage and surrounding tissues to augment them as desired.
A closed rhinoplasty involves making incisions along the inner rim of the nostrils. The surgery is then performed via the inside your nostrils, meaning that there is less visible evidence (scarring) that an operation has been performed. Depending on your own, unique facial anatomy, your surgeon will decide as to which would suit you.
Before any procedure here at Dr MediSpa, we will invite you for a no-obligation consultation so that we can discuss your requirements and your medical history, as well as examine your nose and plan the correct treatment to suit you. Once we are satisfied you are fit and well for surgery and that the procedure will benefit you, we can arrange a date for you to have your treatment.
You will be given a general anaesthetic for your rhinoplasty procedure so will not be conscious during the operation. Depending on the type of surgery you have, your surgeon may need to break the nasal bone and reposition it and/or reshape the cartilage. This sounds drastic but is a very common technique and offers a permanent correction or augmentation.
You may need to stay in hospital overnight, following your rhinoplasty and you may need to wear a protective splint over your nose for at least a week. Any sutures inside your nose will usually be dissolvable and will not need removing. Outer stitches are removed at your follow-up appointment.
You will be tender, swollen and may experience some bruising after your procedure and will need to rest for a few days and follow any aftercare instructions that your surgeon offers, for optimum healing and the best results possible. In many cases, patients can return to their daily activities after a week or so, following the procedure.
Everyone heals differently after a rhinoplasty, so no set timelines exist for your journey post-procedure. Some results can be seen immediately, following your procedure. However, your nose will be swollen, bruised and tender for some weeks after and you will need to allow ample time for healing. Depending on the extent and method of surgery, the full results could take around 8 to 12 weeks to be visible. It can take a period of months, even up to a year, for the nose to settle fully, so this is not a quick fix. However, the optimum results are permanent and can be life-changing.
