In recent years, it seems that tattoos have become increasingly popular. This is probably due to celebrities such as David and Victoria Beckham, Cheryl Cole and Rihanna sporting wild and wonderful body art, along with a whole host of other stars. However, when a tattoo becomes no longer fashionable or wanted, what can we do to remove it? In years gone by, it wasn’t possible to erase a tattoo and the wearer would be ‘stuck’ with it. However, laser tattoo removal has now become popular practice and there are several effective laser technologies on the market today. At Dr. MediSpa, we utilise the most up-to-date and high-tech device to effectively and safely remove an unwanted tattoo in record time.

The best tattoo removal technology…

We have chosen Q-Switched laser technology as it can reach the deeper layers of the skin tissue (unlike the older generation lasers) and are able to break down all the combinations of inks that are available. With Q-Switched laser technology we can remove a tattoo with minimal risk of scarring and permanent pigmentary changes. The secret to Q-Switched technology is the multi-wave laser system, to remove the full spectrum of pigments used in tattoos:

Q-Swithed ruby laser – for blue, black and green pigments.

Q-Switched Nd:YAG laser – for red, yellow, orange, black and blue pigments.

Q-Switched Alexandrite laser – for black, blue and green pigments.

The laser injects the skin with an intense light, which, in-turn, penetrates the skin and breaks up the ink particles left by the tattoo. Over time and a course of sessions, this will fade the tattoo. The body’s immune system will then remove these pigments naturally, over the course of the treatment. The laser only targets the pigmented skin, leaving the surrounding skin unharmed.

Tattoo Removal from Medical Professionals

Laser tattoo removal can carry risks, if not performed in a clinical environment in a doctor-led clinic with superior laser devices. Burning can occur and if a therapist is not correctly trained, the desired results may not be achieved. Although laser tattoo removal is not considered a surgical procedure, a high level of training and expertise is vital to perform the procedure safely and effectively. Therefore, make sure you choose a clinic which holds all the necessary accreditations and upholds all CQC regulations for safe practice, before undergoing this treatment.

Getting a tattoo can be extremely painful and equally, removal of tattoos with a laser can be uncomfortable too. However, our highly-trained team offer the most up-to-date technology which is far less painful than traditional lasers, as well as cooling techniques so that your journey with us is as comfortable as possible.

A treatment session can last approximately 30 minutes, depending on the area to be treated however, your treatment plan will be discussed in a consultation with one of our specialists before any procedure here at Dr. MediSpa so that you know what to expect with each visit to the clinic.
