Vascular Lesions Reduction at Dr MediSpa

The pigmented or vascular lesion is exposed to short pulses of visible light, which raises the temperature in the area of concentrated haemoglobin high enough to damage and break down the vessel wall.

The damaged blood vessels are then absorbed by the body, making them less visible or destroying them completely.

Am I suitable for the treatment?

Laser treatment for vascular lesions is suitable for most people who have this condition.

However, before starting any procedure we carry out a full consultation with you, to confirm your medical history and complete an assessment of the area that needs treating.

This will allow us to determine your suitability for the treatment, how many sessions you may need and the expected results.

How many treatments will I need?

Most patients need a course of up to 3 treatments to achieve the desired results.

Does this treatment have downtime or side effects?

Depending on your skin type (and the lesion being treated), you may have some redness and swelling in the treated area for up to 48 hours.

You may also notice that the treated area appears darker, about 5 to 7 days after treatment, which also should clear shortly after.

Frequently asked questions

Will I need aftercare?

If you apply a cooling pack to your skin for the first few hours after treatment, it will help reduce any discomfort.

You may also find an aloe vera gel helpful.

We also advise you to treat your skin gently and:

  • avoid sun exposure (to minimise the possibility of hyperpigmentation or darker pigmentation)
  • use SPF50 sunscreen
  • not pick or scratch the treated skin
  • not take a hot bath, or have exercise or heat treatments, for the first 24 hours.
