Profhilo®

As we age, the skin can show a variety of concerns, from dry, dehydrated skin, lines and wrinkles and uneven skin tone, to sagging cheeks and jowls and sunken, hollow areas. When traditional dermal fillers aren’t required or needed, a new and innovative skin rejuvenation elixir could be what you are looking for to dramatically improve skin tone, texture and elasticity. This ‘liquid skincare’ is called Profhilo® and is available with at Dr Medispa in our Essex and London clinics.

Dr Somji has performed hundreds of Profhilo injections, and was one of the first to use Profhilo in the UK.

What is Profhilo?

Profhilo is a new hyaluronic acid, injectable skin remodelling treatment which can assist in the rejuvenation of the skin’s architecture and is administered by a medical professional. Profhilo offers the best results in 2 treatment sessions.

It is injected in to 5 points in the area of concern. Profhilo stimulates 4 different types of collagen and elastin, the vital components of youthful, toned skin. This happens due to the slow release of hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring substance within the body, which depletes over time. The stimulation of these substances results in significant improvement in skin quality, tone and texture.

Profhilo is not a dermal filler; it consists of a new hyaluronic acid gel. Profhilo can be used as a stand-alone treatment or can complement other aesthetic treatments.

Am I suitable for Profhilo?

Profhilo is suitable for most people who are experiencing the early or advanced stages of skin ageing. However, we will ask you to attend a no-obligation consultation so that we can assess your unique skin concerns as well as check your medical history. Once we are satisfied that Profhilo will be a safe and effective treatment for you, we will invite you back to the clinic for treatment.

Does the treatment hurt?

Prior to treatment, a topical anaesthetic will be applied to your skin, so as to minimise discomfort. If you are particularly sensitive, we may offer you an injectable anaesthetic. However, in most cases, this is not required.

What results can I expect with Profhilo?

After one course of Profhilo, consisting of two injectable treatments, a month apart, you can expect to see more hydrated, glowing and luminous skin. Fine lines can disappear, and the skin will appear smoother and tighter. In cases where more skin repair is required, you may be advised to have another course of treatment, six months after the initial session.

Is there any downtime following treatment with Profhilo?

Following treatment with Profhilo you might experience some localized lumps around the sites of injection. These tiny lumps will subside naturally, within around 24 hours after your treatment. You may also experience some swelling and slight bruising, following the procedure; all of which are very natural, temporary reactions.

How long will my results last after Profhilo?

You should enjoy a more hydrated, luminous and firmer complexion for up to six months following your initial treatment with Profhilo, however, results may vary. Lifestyle and environmental factors can have an effect on the skin. Therefore, if you smoke, drink alcohol excessively or expose your skin to excessive amounts of sunlight, you may find that you need to return for another treatment sooner than expected.
