What is EMERALD Laser?

The treatment emulsifies the adipose tissue and releases excess fatty materials into the body, where it is lost through the natural course of detoxification through the lymphatic system.

EMERALD Laser is a totally non-invasive, hands-free treatment. It has:

EMERALD is a low-level, non-thermal laser which emits 10 532nm green lasers on to the skin, to break down hypertrophic adipocytes (fat cells) without killing them – this keeps the hormonal system balanced. What is the difference between fat freezing and laser fat reduction with EMERALD?

Traditionally, fat freezing treatments such as CoolSculpting have been used by clinics to reduce fat cells by freezing and killing them. This has resulted in some fantastic cases, but some patients experience a phenomenon called paradoxical adipose hyperplasia. This causes the fat cells to multiply and thicken, which actually causes a gradual increase in fat in the areas treated.

EMERALD laser lipo treatment does not heat or cool the treatment area, and it does not aim to kill the fat cells. The method of action triggers the cells to release their fat without harming the cell. Therefore, EMERALD Laser cannot trigger paradoxical adipose hyperplasia.

How many sessions of EMERALD Laser treatments will I need?

This all depends on the amount of subcutaneous fat that you have and how many areas need to be treated. On average expect to have between 8 to 10 sessions for optimum results. Your treatment plan will be discussed at your pre-procedure consultation, here at Dr MediSpa.

How does a laser remove fat without heating or freezing it?

EMERALD Laser draws fat from cells using electromagnetic energy transfer. A photochemical reaction creates a transistory pore in the fat cell membrane; the fatty content of the fat cell is emulsified and then extrudes out into the interstitial space. The fat is then carried away and removed by the body.

Messaging between fat cells also triggers the expulsion of fat from cells over time, meaning that the EMERALD Laser fat reduction treatment stimulates fat loss during and after the treatment appointment itself.

How does EMERALD Laser fat leave the body?

When fat is released from the fat cells during the course of laser lipo treatment, your body’s natural rebalancing removes it. The lymphatic system carries the fat to be excreted.
