Acne Facials – what is acne?
Acne is a chronic, inflammatory skin condition which can start in teenage years or even adulthood. Acne causes spots and pimples, especially on the face, shoulders, back, neck, chest, and upper arms. Acne flairs up when oily secretions from the skins oil glands plug the tiny openings for hair follicles, more commonly known as pores. Whiteheads, blackheads, pimples, cysts, and nodules can form because of this blockage and can be red, pus filled and painful. 20% of all acne cases occur in adulthood and can affect both men and women.
Acne Facials – Our Three-step Signature approach
At the first stage of your acne facial, you’ll be asked to attend a no obligation consultation with Dr. Somji so he can decide which course of action would best suit your skin concern, lifestyle and expected results.
Stage 2 of the acne is a choice between a skin peel base, an aquafacial base or a Dermaplaning treatment base. For acne, a skin peel or aquafacial base can be chosen, depending on how much downtime you can tolerate. This will extensively cleanse and de-clog pores as well as minimise redness and inflammation.
Following your stage 2 procedure, stage 3 will consist of an ‘add on’ stage. For acne sufferers, a specific LED light treatment on a ‘blue’ setting can significantly reduce redness, inflammation and destroy bacteria to minimise future acne flair ups and is a great follow on from a dermal peel or aquafacial.
