At Dr. MediSpa in London and Essex, we offer a range of effective, non-surgical sun-damaged skin treatments to counteract the effects of the sun on the skin and replenish and restore it for summer and beyond.

August means summer is well underway; whether you’re abroad or enjoying the surprisingly great sun we’re getting at home! Have you noticed that following a holiday or excessive exposure to the sun, your skin is suffering?

It’s tricky to avoid the sun completely, no matter how we cover up with hats and SPF. A little sunlight is good for us, offering us vital vitamin D and a welcome boost to happiness! However, harmful UVA and UVB rays can break down the DNA in our skin, dehydrate it and cause hyperpigmentation and sun spots. We’re here to help if you’ve noticed the effects the sun has had on your skin over time.

Our Sun-damaged Skin Treatments

iS Clinical® is a cosmeceutical product range formulated with pharmaceutical-grade botanical ingredients. They work synergistically and safely within the skin cells to gradually lighten sun-damaged and pigmented skin. iS Clinical® can only be purchased from a specialist aesthetic clinic and you’ll need to undergo a full consultation before starting a clinic and at-home regime to combat pigmentation.

Microneedling is a non-invasive procedure which uses tiny needles to punch in to the skin, causing increased collagen production and promoting healing. Microneedling helps the skin to absorb cosmeceuticals and prescribed treatments deeper in to the epidermis, making them more effective. Microdermabrasion can help strengthen skin that has been weakened and dehydrated by the sun and improve pigmentation. A course of treatment will ensure the best results.

Laser treatment for hyperpigmentation works by emitting short bursts of specifically targeted light in to the skin, breaking down the melanin which is responsible for pigmentation and improving the skin’s tone and texture. The melanin is reabsorbed naturally by the body and the visibility of dark patches on the skin is reduced. A course of around 3 to 6 sessions at intervals of 4 to 6 weeks is all that’s needed to dramatically improve the appearance of sun-damaged, pigmented skin.

Peels and resurfacers – these non-invasive topical treatments help to improve the skin’s tone, texture and elasticity as well as minimising sun spots and hyperpigmentation. Specially selected fruit and sugar derived acids are applied in different strengths, depending on your individual skin type and expected downtime. These acids slough away dead skin cells and debris and reveal a clearer, smoother skin tone. Cell turnover is improved and over a course of treatment you will see a marked improvement in your skin quality and dark patches will fade over time.

The above treatments can be used alone or as part of a tailor-made signature facial by Dr. Somji. He will decide on the best course of action for your individual concern and skin type in a no obligation consultation.
