Do you look in the mirror and see a panda staring back? Are you constantly doing an Alice Cooper impression? Dark circles under the eyes can happen for many reasons. The natural ageing process, lack of sleep, dehydration and excessive alcohol consumption can all contribute to that ‘zombie’ look. Fortunately, there is a simple and effective solution to combat dark circles –  dermal fillers for dark circles in the under-eye area. At Dr. MediSpa, Dr.Munir Somji offers the best under eye filler treatments that you’ll find anywhere in Essex and the results can be superb and long-lasting.

Dermal fillers contain hyaluronic acid (HA) which is a naturally occurring sugar in the body responsible for hydrated and youthful-looking skin. When expertly injected into specific areas under the eyes (tear troughs) these dermal fillers can plump out any hollows, create a support for sagging skin and offer a lighter, fresher appearance under the eyes.

How do I know if I am suitable for dermal fillers for dark circles?

Most cases of dark circles under the eyes can be treated with dermal fillers. However, some medical conditions such as anaemia can contribute to dark circles and need to be ruled out before treatment. To know whether you are suitable for HA dermal fillers for the under-eye area, you’ll be requested to attend a pre-treatment consultation with Dr. Somji at our Loughton clinic in Essex. He will discuss your medical history, assess your individual concerns and recommend the best course of treatment for you and your lifestyle.

Do under eye fillers hurt?

You should not feel pain with this treatment as most dermal fillers contain ‘Lidocaine’, an injectable anaesthetic. Dr. Somji will usually use a cannula to inject the product in to the tear trough. A cannula is a blunt needle which is used to reduce potential bruising. You might feel a little pushing or tugging when Dr. Somji administers the treatment but you should not feel any discomfort or pain. A topical anaesthetic can be used if you are particularly nervous or sensitive.

What happens after treatment?

After the treatment, you may have some swelling, a little bruising and mild tenderness. This is very normal and will subside quickly. You can use ice to calm the area and camouflage any slight bruising with a recommended, specially formulated make-up. Dr. Somji will advise you on a specific aftercare programme. Fillers for dark circles are not permanent, and you might wish to make a follow-up appointment to maintain your treatments look.

With dermal fillers in the under-eye area, you won’t have to worry about those panda eyes or using heavy make-up to disguise your dark circles. At Dr. MediSpa in Loughton, we have perfected the art of a youthful, more wide-awake look with this effective treatment.
