iPixel laser resurfacing

iPixel skin-resurfacing laser treatment helps to improve skin texture, tone and pore size, and reduces or removes the appearance of marks and blemishes.

Compared to older resurfacing laser technologies, iPixel is part of the new generation of non-ablative, fractional lasers that give superior results with less downtime.

Frequently asked questions

How does iPixel laser treatment work?

The iPixel directs a short, intense burst of laser energy onto the surface of the skin. This heats water within the surface layers, causing both the water and skin tissue to turn to vapour.

With each pass of the laser, tiny areas (or ‘pixels’) of the outermost layers of skin are removed in a precise and controlled way. Surrounding skin tissue is untouched and remains intact.

The process uses the body’s natural healing process to stimulate the growth of collagen and replace the lost skin with new, healthy and smoother skin tissue.

Because the iPixel can be targeted so precisely, it has fewer side effects than ablative resurfacing lasers. This makes it suitable for treating skin on the face, neck, chest and hands with minimal irritation.

Each treatment session usually takes between 10 and 15 minutes, depending on the size of the area being treated.

How many treatment sessions will I need?

We usually recommend a programme of 3 to 5 treatments, at intervals of 4 weeks, but this may vary according to your skin condition.

During your consultation, we will discuss the sessions you will need and any issues or concerns about the procedure.

Is it suitable for all skin types?

iPixel resurfacing treatment is suitable for all skin types except for darker skin tones such as African-Caribbean and African skin.

Is it painful?

iPixel laser treatment is generally well tolerated and virtually pain-free.

You will notice some warmth and a light ‘flicking’ sensation where the laser is applied to your skin.

The treatment of deeper scars may produce slightly more discomfort, but we use a cooling device to help to manage this and minimise any possible discomfort.

Are there any side effects?

iPixel resurfacing treatments continue to be performed safely and effectively all over the world.

There are few if any reported side effects and little or no downtime.

Discomfort during the treatment is minimal, although you may have some redness and swelling of your skin afterwards. This could last a few hours up to a couple of days.

You can apply a mineral make-up immediately after the treatment to help conceal any redness.

You may also notice slight peeling and flaking for one or two days following the procedure. This should disappear within about five days.

Is there any aftercare?

It’s important to keep your skin moisturised in the seven days after treatment.

We will discuss with you which moisturisers will be most effective for use on treated skin.

How long do the results last?

Your skin will look better a few days after the treatment, with the results steadily improving over the following few months.

The long-term effects of the treatment are naturally affected by the normal ageing process, which varies from person to person.

For optimal results, after your initial course of treatment we recommend a top-up, maintenance session every 6 to 12 months.
