Immune Drips

“Patients often ask me if it’s possible and how to boost your immune system. You can boost it and there are some easy ways….”

One – Supercharge your diet

Try to consume a healthy diet with lots of fresh fruit and vegetables as eating a nutritious balanced diet is vital in supporting your immune system.

Top tip: consider upping superfoods and spices to supercharge your diet such as cinnamon which is thought to reduce bacteria’s ability to multiply, citrus fruits which are full of vitamin C to help fight off infections and raw garlic which is brilliant at giving your body’s immune system a helping hand. Garlic has natural antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties, helping you ward off illness and recover quicker and can also increase the number of t-cells in your blood, which in turn fight viruses.

Two – Top up your water intake

Ensure you are drinking an adequate amount of water as many of our metabolic functions reply on hydration. In addition, it can have an effect on the mucus layer in your respiratory tract and your digestive tract that has antibodies that trap germs to prevent them getting to your cells.

Top tip: add slices of lemon, orange, ginger or cucumber to flavor hot or cold water and pre-fill water containers to keep track of your water intake in a day.

Three – Exercise regularly

Don’t underestimate the value of clean fresh air and improving the circulation of oxygen around your body. Even light to moderate exercise can improve your mental and physical wellbeing and can also support your lymphatic system which is essential to supporting your immune cells to fight germs and improve blood circulation to remove toxins from your body.

Top tip: Set yourself realistic and achievable goals like walking for 20-30 minutes everyday and increase the intensity and type of activity as you begin to enjoy and benefit from it.

Four – Reduce stress and improve the length and quality of your sleep

As we sleep the hormone melatonin stimulates new immune cells – vital to ward off and fight infections and illness.

Top tip: Try to take a break from devices, phone calls and TV an hour or so before you want to go to sleep to encourage your body to naturally relax and induce sleep.

Five – Review your supplements

A weak or compromised immune system is more likely to develop a secondary infection such as pneumonia and therefore incorporating vitamin supplements or an intravenous infusion can deliver an optimal and instant dose of essential nutrients to the body’s cells such as vitamin C, vitamin b12 complex, glutathione, zinc and essential amino acids – all of which play an essential role in the immune system functioning well.

Top tip: Consider having an infusion weekly and then monthly as a maintenance treatment.

Bespoke IV infusions are available at the Dr Medispa clinics and are tailored to your requirements. Prices start from £200 depending on the formulation.

More on Dr Medispa Drips

Many health and beauty trends seem to come and go, sometimes in a matter of mere months. However, one that has been around for several years now and looks to be here to stay due to its popularity and efficacy, is vitamin drips (or IV immune drips). At the Dr MediSpa clinics in Marylebone, London and Loughton in Essex, Dr Munir Somji administers a range of vitamin drips that can deliver to optimum doses of vitamins B, C and D, vitamin B-complexes, glutathione, zinc, magnesium and essential amino acids such as arginine, taurine, lysine, citrulline, substances which all offer a range of heath-boosting benefits.

  • Vitamin B and B complexes – boosts energy levels – keeps skin healthy
  • Vitamin C – helps fight free-radicals and boosts immunity – helps the body produce collagen
  • Vitamin D – Keeps bones, hair, teeth and muscles healthy
  • Glutathione, zinc and magnesium – helps fight infection and boost immunity

Most of us are severely vitamin and mineral deficient and this is due to bad diet, stress, pollution and the types of foods that we consume. Many crops are grown using chemicals, are harvested before they are properly ripe and therefore have minimal nutritional value. Every day stress can affect the gut and hinder the absorption of what nutrients are present in our fruit and vegetables; a double edge sword! Vitamin drips can offer several health kicks including increasing our energy, cleansing our systems and boosting immunity. They can even cure a hangover after a heavy night out and banish headaches due to dehydration.

Why vitamin drips over taking oral supplements?

If you take a daily vitamin tablet, you may or may not be aware that typically only around 8 percent of the nutrients in that pill will be absorbed and utilised by your body. This is because when you take a tablet, it has to pass through your stomach before it becomes absorbed. Your individual absorption rate is dependent on your own gut health, any deficiencies you may have and how well your hormones are balanced. Vitamin delivery via IV-therapy, allows you to absorb 99.9% of the vitamins contained within the infusion and what’s more, they’re delivered straight into your bloodstream for maximum effect!

Our Dr Medispa Drips are bespoke-formulated by our pharmacy to deliver exactly what your body needs, and nothing that it doesn’t. Mineral levels are made up so that you don’t risk harm by taking in too much; not always possible with ‘off the shelf’ IV drips. Vitamins that your body doesn’t use will simply be excreted.

How do I know I am suitable for vitamin drips?

Most people can benefit from vitamin drips in some way, whether it’s to boost immunity, ward off infection, get a more youthful and glowing complexion or to increase their feelings of vitality and wellbeing. However, prior to any vitamin drip treatment here at Dr MediSpa, you will be invited to a no obligation consultation with Dr Somji, so that he can assess your requirements, general health and check your medical history. He can also offer a blood test which will show up any deficiencies and measure the levels of essential vitamins, minerals and trace elements. This means that he will be able to instruct our pharmacy on the exact formulation that will benefit your individual needs.

What happens during a vitamin drip treatment?

A small needle will be placed into the vein in your arm or hand. This is attached to an IV bag. Over the course of 15 to 45 minutes, the vitamin drip will be administered directly into your bloodstream. During this time, you can relax, read a book or check your emails. You are fully-awake during the treatment and there is no anaesthetic required.

After the treatment you can get on with your day as normal, with no downtime and feeling more energetic and revived.

You may start to feel the positive effects of your vitamin drips during your therapy and results can last up to a month. Due to the regenerative and healing effects that some of our formulations offer, vitamin drips can offer anti-ageing and rejuvenating benefits.

All our vitamin drips are gluten, hexane, sugar and heavy metal free and vegan friendly and are formulated to the purest specifications.

Can vitamin drips be combined with other treatments?

Vitamin drips will not interfere with other aesthetic and non-surgical treatments and can even help with results and speed up any healing time. Dr Somji recommends combining vitamin drips with BioMat. BioMat is a device-led treatment which emits far-infrared rays from amethyst. This encourages your body to secret heat shock protein (HSP), which strengthens your immune system. HSP increases the production of endorphins, Natural Killer Cells (NK Cells), T Cells and lymphocytes to boost immunity, reduce fatigue and relieve pain. Dr Somji himself uses this treatment on a daily basis.
